Do I need an expensive ergonomic chair?

No. A suitable chair may help, but many useful changes are free or low cost: adjust distance, add simple support, change item placement, vary position and take shorter work blocks. Start by identifying the actual problem.

What is the best sitting posture?

There is no single posture that should be held all day. Use a position that feels supported and allows easy access to the task, then change position regularly before fatigue builds.

How often should I take a break?

The ideal interval depends on force, repetition, task variety, symptoms and current capacity. High-demand or static work may need shorter cycles. Brief, frequent changes are often easier to use than occasional long breaks.

Can a standing desk prevent back pain?

Not by itself. Standing desks provide another position, but prolonged standing can also fatigue. The value is the ability to alternate positions and keep the work at a useful height.

How should I use a laptop for long periods?

Raise the screen to a comfortable viewing height and use a separate keyboard and pointing device when possible. Keep them close enough that the shoulders and arms remain relaxed, and continue changing position.

Should I wear a back belt for lifting?

A belt should not create confidence to lift more than the task or body can safely manage. Reducing load, keeping it closer, using equipment and redesigning repeated work are more important. Individual medical indications require professional advice.

What if my employer controls the setup?
